Mariposa artist Vicki D. Thomas, a watercolor artist, has included acrylic paintings to her collection. She loves the versatility of acrylics and their lush, creamy colors, and is especially pleased with her landscapes and floral paintings.
Vicki has also enjoyed many years painting in watercolor, loving the transparency of watercolors as they blend one into the other, creating pleasing shapes and new colors. Her vividly painted flowers and floral still-life pieces are her favorites. Many images have appeared on various giftware items such as teapots, tea infusers, tapestries, and music boxes. She also has prints and cards in her inventory.
The artist enjoys painting children and adults and is known to have an attraction for fantasy and whimsical themes. Her experience drawing people comes from many years as a fashion illustrator when she had her own business in Los Angeles. She also taught watercolor to young people and adults in the San Gabriel area.
Since Vicki and her husband moved near Yosemite National Park, she joins the Yosemite Sierra Artists (a local art club), and goes plein air painting to the many beautiful vistas.
For several decades, Vicki has exhibited and sold at numerous galleries, art shows and is involved in art competitions where she has received awards in juried shows. She is an active member of Yosemite Sierra Artists (Oakhurst) as well as art competition. Vicki enjoys the camaraderie and shared information from the other artist members.
Vicki’s art work has been exhibited at United Security Bank, Oakhurst; Mariposa County Arts Council (Treetop Gallery), Mariposa; Senators Cogdill and Berryhill’s Fresno Offices; Circle Gallery (Madera), the Fresno Arts Council and Fresno City Hall; Visitors Center, Oakhurst and the Yosemite Gateway Art Center. Vicki also participates in the annual Sierra Art Trails, Artists Studio Tour.
